Diageo should stick to brewing great stout

Diageo came up with a brilliant idea: use the 250th anniversary of the founding of Guinness to market their products. It was so successful that ‘Arthur’s Day’ became an annual event perhaps as significant in our calendars as St Patrick’s Day.

Diageo should stick to brewing great stout

However, after bad publicity they abandoned this initiative. Recently, they created the ‘Stop out-of-control drinking’ campaign and recruited high-profile people onto its board. However, again after recent bad publicity, their board member David Smith has resigned. If they had also withdrawn the funding, it would have been a massive own goal of epic proportions.

Maybe they should confine themselves to brewing drinks, some of which I enjoy, and stick to good old fashioned advertising.
