Arabs make up third strongest party in Israel

When an Arab high court judge sentences the Jewish president of Israel to rot in jail, what better proof can there be that Israel is the only democracy in the neighbourhood?

Furthermore, Salim Jubran, the judge who oversaw the democratic nature of Israel’s election, is also an Arab.

The Arabs of Israel form the third strongest party in the Jewish State, and all citizens of Israel have the same vote, including the Arabs of the Old City of Jerusalem. The Palestinians of Judea and Samaria are not Israeli citizens.

They can, however, change the course of events, for the better, by demanding that they, too, be allowed to choose their own government, after being denied this basic human right for several years.

They ought to choose a less recalcitrant leader than Abu Mazen, who scoffed at the generous offers of Ehud Barak and Ehud Olmert.
