I am astonished by the photograph on the back page of your March 7 edition showing children vandalising an historic building presumably a protected structure.

Children shouldn’t deface structures in the name of art

Yes, I know they are only using chalk but what is this activity teaching them? They will no doubt be back next with spray cans and stanley knives.

Who in Waterford promoted this mindless project? By whose authority are historic monuments being defaced? Where next to amuse the children? Clonmacnoise maybe?
