TD’s arrest was shocking and heavy-handed

The Paul Murphy, TD, arrest is a disgrace. Why was a member of the Oireachtas not afforded the courtesy of arrest by appointment, which was afforded to the Anglo Irish bankers?

The timing and nature of the arrest must have been known at the highest levels within An Garda Siochána, and by the Minister for Justice and the Government.

Fair enough if there are questions to be answered, but this should have been handled more discreetly and with fewer members of the Force, particularly when resources are thin and not so visible on the ground.
