We should be proud of our peaceful water protestors

I know that people are sick of hearing about water — God knows, I am. But what gets to me is the people who say, ‘ah, sure, it’s only a couple of euro, pay it and be done with it’. It is a logical argument.

But the thing is, you see, that we can’t be done with it.

If we ‘get done with it’, what else will they double-tax us for?

A second tax on the car, maybe? And, after that, a second universal social charge, maybe?

And, then, while they are at it, a second income tax?

At what point do we, as a nation, say ‘no’? When they have triple-taxed us, or quadrupled-taxed us, for the same thing? When is enough enough?

Because, right now, from where I am standing and from what I am reading, these peaceful protestors of ours have guts.

They have an iron relentlessness and a conviction, such a powerful conviction, that what they are doing is the right thing — and it is.
