In his condemnation of exterminations at Nazi concentration camps [Irish Examiner, February 2] Geoffrey Roberts misses the fact that Stalin exterminated millions of his own citizens.

Stalin, like Hitler, had no regard for human life

WW2 was a fight between two totalitarian dictators to see which of them would govern Europe.

Present day problems in Europe in which we argue about single currencies and the diminution of national sovereignty in joining the EU are relatively minor in comparison to the issues involved in WW2.

Then, neither national sovereignty nor the right to life of citizens of nations, meant anything to two megalomaniacal, totalitarian dictators.
