Beware the future of Irish Water under privateers

These pages recently revealed the plight of a woman whose electricity bill was in arrears and who endured Christmas without power (‘I’ve had no electricity since October and the privateers leave me cold’, January 6). 

Her electricity was cut off. She’s on social welfare.

The Government has handed over 650,000 customers to British energy company, Centrica, even though they have been mired in controversy in the UK over high prices — this was known prior to the break-up of Bórd Gais.
