Lucinda may be usurped by independents

I can’t help but wonder if Lucinda Creighton will have missed the boat in launching a new political party within the next eight weeks, or was that the launch last week? I’m not too sure.

Lucinda may be usurped by independents

It reminds me of the launch on New Year’s Day of UTV Ireland. After a five-minute promotional video, we were treated to an hour-long programme set on a Yorkshire farm. UTV Ireland won’t be in top gear for a few months, when some of it’s new programmes commence, seemingly like Lucinda’s as yet unnamed party.

Last year, when I attended the ‘monster rally’ in the RDS, there was an undoubted air of anticipation and energy that something exciting was afoot. However, since then we have had local elections and a marked increase in support for independents and Sinn Féin. People such as Shane Ross and Michael Fitzmaurice talk about forming an alliance of independents, as opposed to a new party.
