Let journalists learn from the balanced BAI ruling

However it appears from the comments of Aodhan O’Riordain, that such antediluvian views are still alive. This can only explain Mr O’Riordain’s bizarre attack on the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland for insisting on balanced broadcasting in the context of the debate on same-sex marriage.
Surely the BAI is to be congratulated for insisting on objectivity/balance when issues of social significance are being debated. In such contexts, the broadcaster is in a neutral role. He/she is entitled to subscribe to liberal/feminist dogma in his private life but not in his professional broadcasting capacity.
