Bob Quinn’s cry from the heart or more accurately from the pocket (Letters, January 1) expresses well concerns that I have frequently spoken about at meetings of Kerry County Council.

The decision in 2005 by faceless bureaucrats in the Department of the Environment to insist on the erection of 80km per hour speed signs at the entrance to all minor roads ranks high in the ill-thought out and potentially dangerous directives from Government.

The folly of this programme was highlighted on many occasions but sadly no one listened.
