Bob Quinn’s cry from the heart or more accurately from the pocket (Letters, January 1) expresses well concerns that I have frequently spoken about at meetings of Kerry County Council.

When any group takes unto itself the role of being arbiter of right and wrong there is the ultimate inevitably of mayhem, brutality and murder.

SEVERAL months ago I proposed a notice of motion to Kerry County Council calling on the Southern Health Board to repay to residents of long-stay community hospitals — or to their relatives where appropriate — the money which the board had deducted from their weekly social welfare allowance.
