Water charges U-turn drives protestors on

It is sad when good, decent people have to resort to violence to have their human rights acknowledged. It was only when the barracks were blown out and the Tans ambushed that the British army left the country.

Likewise, it was only when the people showed what they could do if pushed to the point of desperation that the democratically-elected Government started listening.

The Goverment’s Thatcherian strategy of condemning the frustration and indignation of the electorate can only result in further exacerbating the water rights movement.
