Further to Zoe Lawlor’s letter (Letters, October 24), the main question the Government should be asking is whether or not money it has pledged will all be used for the good of Gazans.

Gaza corruption can’t be discounted

Palestinian advocacy groups are very reluctant to admit it but the greatest restriction of all on reconstruction in Gaza is corruption in Hamas. While Gaza’s public service workers go unpaid for weeks on end, the Hamas’ leaders and their entourages live in luxury hotels in Qatar. Meanwhile, the movement can still find the money to invest and lose tens of millions of dollars in real estate in Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
