It’s high time our public transport was on time

I am frustrated with the sub-standard public transport in Cork. On Tuesday, after a business meeting at the Airport Business Park, I waited for a bus. When it did not arrive on time, I called the office of the service provider to enquire as to why not.

I was told that the bus was at the airport and would be with me momentarily. However, the bus did not arrive until 30 minutes after the scheduled time. This disrupted my schedule.

I have experienced and heard of numerous instances of city buses not arriving, or arriving but ignoring people at stops. There is countless anecdotal evidence of this tardiness in the Irish public transport system.

We are constantly being hit with additional taxes, levies, etc, and the costs of services are continually rising, yet the quality of services drastically diminishes. When will the national public transport system acknowledge and respect its customers? We are well overdue a reliable public transport service.
