Finding Nemo’s name

In the 50s I was a young barman. At the time there was no tv and the radio was for news only, so there were lots of discussions between patrons.

This particular evening, the name of Nemo Rangers came up. A Mr Pat Duane, who was elderly at the time, told a wonderful story.

The men who founded the club met to agree a name. After two hours no agreement was reached, then a massive storm erupted.

One member said that it was an omen, with that another said: “The word omen spelt backwards is Nemo”.

It was unanimously decided to adopt the name Nemo.
