Enjoy hurling final wherever you are

This is one of the great Irish sporting and social weekends, and one that hundreds of thousands of Irish people look forward to passionately each year — even more passionately if their county has a showdown date in Croke Park.

This year’s All Ireland Hurling Final — between arch rivals, Kilkenny and Tipperary, as if you didn’t know — may enjoy the biggest TV audience ever because of a series of television and internet deals that have made the spectacle available more or less worldwide. This is a wonderful advance and an opportunity to show Ireland to the world. It is also an opportunity to reconnect with the tens of thousands forced to leave these shores. Maybe it might be an idea to send an email or a text to friends abroad who may not know how easy it is to watch these games now. Let them enjoy it too.
