When I attended a memorial ceremony for members of the RIC and DMP in Glasnevin cemetery in 2012 a group of "republican" yahoos attempted to disrupt the event as they shouted and abuse at those present.

However, the gardaí quickly moved them away out of earshot. Nevertheless the demonstrators may have achieved their aim as the Glasnevin Trust demanded public liability insurance to the amount of €6m, on health and safety and security for the same event a year later which the organisers of the memorial ceremony could not afford.

Following similar behaviour by so-called republicans at Glasnevin cemetery for the recent ceremonial unveiling of the Cross for the First World War attended by the President and the Duke of Kent I hope the Glasnevin Trust did not demand €6m, for staging that event for such a worthy and honorable cause.
