Media scrutiny unfair?

The policy and performance of a government is open to criticism.

As for the incumbents, everything they do or don’t do, and everything they say or don’t say, is criticised ad nauseum in the press and on radio and television, without any suggestion of a viable alternative. If the previous incumbents’ reckless performance was so scrutinised during the Celtic Bubble — oops, I mean Tiger — would the country’s penury have been avoided?

The recent shambolic climbdown on medical cards by the Government suggests perhaps.
