The Government gave €30m to the cash-rich GAA to redevelop Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork.

Not a bother to the present crowd. Just cancel a few thousand medical cards, cut services for the young and elderly and think up new taxes.

While smaller sporting bodies have to sell lotto tickets, organise quizzes and hold church gate collections to survive, the main players can rely on political strokes. ‘Bertieism’ is alive and well, despite all the promises of transparency.
