Independents needed
But under any combination of FF/FG/LAB or SF in government, the above scenario will never change. Greed and power go hand-in-hand and concern for the majority is zero. The solution is to vote for independents. If sufficient non-party candidates get elected countrywide, they can collectively tip the balance of power in favour of ordinary people. Political power for Independents would gain control of public spending on health, education, welfare and essential services.
To help achieve this goal, I have founded a voluntary, non-party organisation, Independents Together, or Meitheal Neamhspleáigh, to encourage and support ordinary people to run as independent candidates. Eighteen candidates in nine counties are now running under the umbrella of Independents Together, and more are coming on board.
Having previously founded the charity, Rural Resettlement Ireland, which has assisted 760 families to move to the country, and the Irish Rural Dwellers’ Association, which had a member appointed to An Bórd Pleanála in 2012, at 76 I am dedicating my time to persuading people, who feel voiceless and abandoned, to run as independents to save our country from ruin.
