Lifeboat rethink

I was delighted to see there is a committee established in Ballycotton to oversee the restoration of ex-lifeboat Mary Stanford.

I have seen this boat a few times in Dublin and always thought it was a shame nothing was ever done to restore this famous relic of our maritime history.

However, I would question the proposed location for the project. Why the car park on the cliffs? One can imagine that in such an isolated area you would have anti-social behaviour on an ongoing basis.

It is a pity the boat cannot be displayed indoors, along with an RNLI display of artifacts and a maritime museum. Perhaps the hard-working committee might have a rethink.
