Enough evidence already

So the Government is planning to spend more taxpayer funds for international consultants to examine water fluoridation (Irish Examiner, March 11).

There is already sufficient evidence to doubt the wisdom of forcing everyone to ingest a substance used in pesticides, especially when fluoride toothpaste is available.

Why is Ireland the only country in the EU to make water fluoridation compulsory?

The onus of proof lies not with worried parents, but with the policymakers, and proof of safety is at best uncertain.

We applaud Cork County Council in calling for a national ban on this outdated interference with our water supplies.
