Political grandstanding

The present debate on Ireland’s Corporation Tax rate is political grandstanding on the part of our European colleagues, the European Court of Justice in the leading case in the area is very clear.

“Member States, due to the principle of fiscal sovereignty and in the absence of harmonisation, are free to adopt whatever tax system they wished and, in particular, to set the associated tax rates and tax bases.”
