Ukraine divided
Feelings of nationalism are weak in Ukraine.
The choice of politicians that the people have is poor. The elite of both sides only care about themselves. The social needs of the people are ignored. Many political movements in western Ukraine have neo-fascist links. Based on language and religion, the people choose which group will lead them.
Due to business links and the need for stability on its borders, Russia will take a military interest in events in Ukraine. The ties with the Russian speakers, and a shared religious view, will influence Russia’s thinking.
Why the EU would back Ukraine supporters is a mystery to me. Some of these people are neo-fascists.
The EU has enough problems with Hungary. I believe that the EU engagement with Ukraine will damage the liberal democratic values of the EU.
