The crisis in Ukraine can be confusing. Ukraine is a deeply divided country, between the Russian-speaking east, which looks to Moscow, and the Ukrainian-speaking west, which looks to Europe.

Feelings of nationalism are weak in Ukraine.

The choice of politicians that the people have is poor. The elite of both sides only care about themselves. The social needs of the people are ignored. Many political movements in western Ukraine have neo-fascist links. Based on language and religion, the people choose which group will lead them.
