Enda, we salute you

Your classic photograph of An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, earlier this week is unfortunate from an historical point of view.

Here we have Mr Kenny, acknowledging the acclaim of his followers, with what seemed to be a Nazi salute, which is a throwback to the early days of Fine Gael and Eoin O’Duffy.

The shadow reflected on the background wall seemed to pose a more sinister image and, hopefully, is not a portent of things to come in our Republic.

All Mr Kenny is missing is a blueshirt and a moustache to really set the scene. Ominous photo, me thinks.
