On February 6, the Pope appointed the members of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, which its website states is ‘a dicastery of the Roman Curia at the service of the Laity’.

Of its 34 appointed members, half are senior clerics, including 12 cardinals and two archbishops. How can such a body represent lay people, who make up 99% of the Church?
