We know pylons are ugly

The best way to describe the latest furore over the electric pylons, and whether or not they are safe, is to use the rational words of former US Secretary of State, Donald Rumsfeld.

“There are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say, there are things that we know we don’t know.

“But there are also unknown unknowns — there are things we do not know we don’t know.”

Setting aside the medical known unknowns, my personal view is that the pylons are just plain ugly. Ireland’s landscape is beautiful so why destroy the beauty with something that can be buried and unseen?

Common sense should prevail.
