Gardaí in the hot seat

It may have passed unnoticed by most, but something momentous happened during the debate with the committee of the Oireachtas.

The vice-president of Sinn Féin, Mary Lou McDonald, had Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan squirming in his seat when she was questioning him about misdemeanours within the force.

This was a reversal of roles, because, to the best of my knowledge, Sinn Féin members were always the target of the uniformed interviewee, so, for that reason alone, it was nice to see the roles reversed.
