We need to eat real food, not micro chips

When, supermarkets go to battle for market share and customers, it’s called a price war. The customers are the winners. Or are they? We must remember there are always casualties in war, mainly people.

We need to eat real food, not micro chips

The current campaign between the supermarket giants could have a serious effect on our indigenous producers and drive them out of the market altogether, with all fruit and vegetables being imported in the future. We then have no control over supply and should there be some catastrophe abroad that affects food production our supplying countries may decide this food should be retained by themselves. What could we do then? Food does not grow overnight so this could be a serious problem.

It’s fine to develop high tech industries here but we must be cognisant of the fact that local food production should never be downgraded to the point that we don’t produce food here anymore.
