Nothing changes in Fianna Fáil philosophy

There is no doubt about it — you have to hand it to Fianna Fáil — they might be down but not ‘out’ by any means.

Nothing, Heaven help us, of course, to do with the local elections upcoming next year — they cynically (what else is new?) now, having originally signed up for the property tax, ask that the increase due in January should be put back a year. No prizes for figuring that one out. Do they really believe that we are all blind to such blatant raw electioneering?

Guess what the Fianna Fáil candidates are going to be saying at those elections in their glossy leaflets and posters? I will not insult the intelligence of the readers here by answering that question in this instance.

This shows that nothing really changes in the overall political philosophy — especially in relation to the aforementioned party.

The late Frank Hall’s television programme Hall’s Pictorial Weekly depicted a local county council meeting in a, let’s say, less than ‘complimentary’ light in a ‘Ballymagash’ scenario back in the seventies, which might very well now be transposed to today’s latest piece of opportunism from Fianna Fáil.

Has anything really changed? Don’t answer please, the question is purely rhetorical.
