From Kiwis to Kinsale... you made it plain sailing

After enjoying a wonderful IFDS Worlds 2013 regatta in Kinsale, we would like to thank the people who contributed a great deal to make Kiwi Gold Sailing very welcome.

From Kiwis to Kinsale... you made it plain sailing

Firstly Cork County Council must be congratulated for being the main sponsor and Kinsale Yacht Club did a great job in running the regatta with excellent results, although the light winds did cause some delays.

The Kiwi Gold Sailing team competed against 18 world class Sonar crews and finished eight which pleased us, considering it was the first regatta in our new boat delivered just a few days before we arrived and we congratulate Bruno, Eric and Nicolas for a brilliant result.

Ex-pat Ron Holland gave us the use of his home a few metres from the KYC, which was most enjoyable and very kind of Ron and Catherine. Chris Macualy made the stay very comfortable and her local contacts took away any hassles we anticipated. Our second home was the Vista Cafe and thanks to Collette and Graham for your fantastic food and hospitality. We will miss you.

To the citizens of Kinsale, you can be very proud for hosting the IFDS World Disabled Yachting Regatta and we thank you for the facilities your town has provided for the disabled, and the warm reception we all enjoyed from everyone we met.

Finally David, Rick, Andrew John and Rob, the Kiwi Gold Sailing team, can’t wait to return and we send this personal message to all who made our stay so enjoyable. Until we meet again, God bless you all.
