Instead of demanding that TDs and senators be permitted to retain the whip and vote ‘according to conscience’, we should demand that they vote according to best available medical knowledge or practice, and according to what is right.

It reminds me of Cambodia’s Pol Pot who was renowned for abruptly ending the careers of people who wore glasses. Reading meant western contagion. Same, it would seem, for reading and thinking in Fine Gael.
