Locals ignored

It was with much disgust that I read about the re-building of Cork Prison last week. Minister Alan Shatter is ignoring the complaints of 163 locals and the project is to go ahead, despite the fact that Kilworth would have been a much better option.

Locals ignored

The infrastructure in the existing area is very poor, with very narrow roads and it will put more severe pressure on traffic when work starts in September. There is a very high concentration of DEIS schools in this area, but what is the point of all this hard work done for social inclusion if a publicly elected representative ignores the negative impact that the rebuilding of this prison will have on local children and their families?
