Wipe our slates clean

For those of us who have accepted our penalty points and paid the fines, it’s stomach-turning to see how easily those in the know, and with influence, have had their points wiped for what would appear, in many cases, no good reason.

What should be done, in the interests of fair play, is that the rest of us should have our slates wiped clean, and our penalty points terminated, especially those of us who have existing penalty points for the less serious road traffic offences.

I have two penalty points for exceeding the 80km/h (on a very good, straight road) by 14km/h.

It’s time, too, that the speed limits on our roads be reviewed. Some of these speed limits make no sense, with 100km/h allowed on some very dangerous, winding roads, while good, straight roads have speed limits of 80km/h.
