Our politicians are living like princes

The working families of this country are battling to put bread on the table and keep a roof over their heads.

The household charge was bad enough; the local property tax is the Thatcherist ‘poll tax’ under another name, and equally unjust.

Under Croke Park II, our leaders planned to unilaterally cut the salaries of working people.

Our politicians are living like princes, on salaries higher than any other deputies in Europe. The crooked politicians and bankers, who wrecked our country, are laughing all the way to the bank with their obscene pensions, funded by us. Enough already.

I propose, to our trade union leaders, that the terms of Croke Park 2 could be accepted only under the following conditions:

* A 50% cut in the salaries and pensions of all sitting TDs.

* A 50% cut in the salaries and pensions of all senior bank officials.

* A 50% cut in the pensions of TDs and bankers who were employed during the tenure of the last Fianna Fáil government.

Let’s screw the fat cats and spare the pain.
