Pain in a picture

I refer to the Irish Examiner front page headline “Raped for 10 years” (Jan 22) and the picture of that young woman who suffered at the hands of her father.

As I looked at the picture, never in my 79 years have I seen such sadness, hopelessness and despair in anyone’s eyes.
