Time we stopped being the good boys

Now that Germany and France have ruled out a debt deal for Ireland similar to that doled out to Greece, it is time to act.

Clearly doing what we are expected to, what our over-bearers have laid out for us, being the good boy in the class counts for nothing.

Our reputation has been re-established; we’re the pushover kid. We ask not ‘why’ or ‘why not’, but just ‘how high?’ Greece’s second bailout and debt forgiveness was to have been a once-off special deal.

Now we have seen that it was no special deal and a third bailout and effective debt forgiveness has been given to Greece, some would contend rightly so.

On Jan 1, 2013, Ireland must declare aloud that we will pay, but only when we can; correction, as soon as we can, but then only at an interest rate of 0.1% on the infamous Promissory Note x 2 (collateral damage on our economy by the PN to date). All backed by a referendum of the people, by the people, for the people.
