Only election fears of TDs can stop abortion

Regardless of the cause of Savita Halappanavar’s tragic death, the powerful international ‘pro–choice’ lobby is demanding that abortion become a right in Ireland.

Only election fears of TDs can stop abortion

In today’s pagan Ireland, there should be little religious opposition to such a demand, and there is none politically.

There will be a small remnant of Catholics obligated to oppose the killing of the innocent, but they will be dismissed as fundamentalists or extremists.

Considering this Government’s hostility to the Catholic Church, the way should be clear to reintroduce the ‘death penalty’, albeit in the form of abortion, for this innocent section of society.

The one obstacle to its introduction will be the TDs’ chances of survival at the next election.

That will be the only determining factor at the end of the debate.

The answer to this most agonising question could be determined by our European of the Year Taoiseach, who may, in the interests of justice or whatever, decide that the local TD’s political survival is not as important as abortion.
