It was indeed encouraging in this economic climate to read a good news story about Cork Harbour (Irish Examiner, Nov 14).

Municipal incinerator ‘has no role to play in Cork Harbour’s future’

The prospect of developing a tourist-based industry that could potentially bring in revenue of €35m and 190 jobs to the area is heartening.

Many people and the community have worked hard over the years to get Cork Harbour on the map. The 20-year plan to develop the lower harbour, namely “The Cork Area strategic Plan”, talks about developing the Lower Harbour for leisure education and recreation. This is now happening.
