WE’RE stuffed with bad news and cynicism, and the clocks just went back, and it’s dark and miserable, and Christmas is coming (and who can afford that?), and now the Government is asking people to vote on some referendum — another one? — something to do with kids.

But it’s raining. And the referendum will probably pass anyway.

Or not. Supporters of the ‘yes’ vote are feeling their sphincter muscles slowly tighten at the prospect of a record low turnout for the children’s referendum: which, if you didn’t know, (and I bet you didn’t) takes place on Nov 10. Turnout could be as little as 30%.
