Children’s hospital suits Dublin lobby

The new children’s hospital is just another name for Consultants Convenience Hospital, using the suffering of children to blackmail the spineless government to locate it in Dublin.

This project was destined for Dublin even before it was designed, whatever the inconvenience to children. This hospital was created within the reign of Bertie Ahern, and the ‘Dublin at all costs’ brigade and would be another concession to the powerful lobby on behalf of Dublin, even though it risked children’s lives, trying to get to it. The project was another sop to Fianna Fáil supporters in Dublin and whatever the reasons given it will be another example of the limited mentalities of the previous government.

The new project will become another Dublin trophy, and sick children can be manipulated to ensure this outcome. It is obvious that Dublin is overpopulated, and its traffic congestion is also at saturation point, but these problems are ignored in the interests of powerful consultants and lobbyists, and sick children outside Dublin seem less important than children within the confines of the Dublin area.
