Republicans should avoid interfering

It appears that some politicians, mainly Republican, have urged the Taoiseach to resist attempts to ‘legalise abortion’. (Sept, 24.)

Republicans should avoid interfering

The politicians in question seem to be ignorant of the legal position in this State in the light of the Supreme Court ruling in the X case. Legislation is required, or short of that another referendum to settle this question.

The Republicans who wrote to the head of the government of a State are the people whose candidate for president has dismissed a sizeable portion of US citizens, many of whom are living in consistent poverty. These Republicans are immersed in hypocrisy and ignorance. They are the same politicians who sanctioned and supported devastating wars in Iraq and elsewhere, when many children were killed or maimed. Their so-called ‘pro-life’ stance is thus exposed as shallow and hypo-critical.
