Politicians should also take the pain
We the taxpayers are sick to death of our TDs, senators and councillors thinking they have the God-given right to decide on where cuts should and should not be made.
Sort the system. We are sick and tired of the cutbacks, the ever increasing burden put upon us, forcing many families to wonder how they are going to get through from one week to the next, yet politicians think that they can just keep on spending.
It is long past due that allowances and any other perks are done away with. These politicians are well paid. Let them live within their means like we have to.
It’s high time to cut their huge expenses: let them pay for things themselves, then let some outsider decide whether it should be reimbursed or not.
The average car will use petrol to the value of €1 for 10 miles travelled — yet Government officials — councillors, senior civil servants will get 97c per kilometre which leaves them with a massive profit.
It is time that they started sending ‘feelers’ about cutting their allowances instead of frightening the life of old age pensioners.
