European scrutiny

Senator Mark Daly is right to highlight the lack of parliamentary scrutiny of Irish legislation (Aug 29).

However, as regards EU legislation, he forgets to mention the comprehensive process of scrutiny as EU legislation passes through the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers, the EU Economic & Social Committee and the EU Committee of the regions.
