Celebrating our Olympic athletes
We have also all paid a very small amount towards the Olympic preparations of our athletes.
This puts an obligation on them to give another little bit of their time to celebrate with us, the people.
The fact that some of them have no medals around their necks is not because of any lack of commitment or talent on their part.
We recognise this. Future Irish Olympians will thank them for their sacrifices as the structures which were not there to help them will be put in place for the future.
In the meantime, we must celebrate the extraordinary achievements of those who won medals.
Why do we always focus on the medals we didn’t get and ignore the ones we did? Congratulations to all and thank you for some wonderful moments.
