Reality has yet to kick in for our left-wingers

The newly-elected Greek government has, in recent days, rolled over and tamely agreed to implement over €11bn in austerity cuts as part of the condition for receiving further bailout funds.

I seem to recollect, during the election campaign, many of those running for election — particularly the left-wingers — saying that if elected they would, in no uncertain terms, tell those who were dictating to us, just that where to go.

Funny old world, is it not?

Perhaps our own left-wingers — Gerry Adams, Richard Boyd Barrett et al — should take particular note of these developments in Greece.

Then they might learn that, like their equals in the Greek government, while you can campaign all day long against the necessary and unpopular measures on the home front (for example, the Fiscal Treaty and the household charge, more taxes, etc) reality will eventually kick in, as it has just done in Greece, in the cold light of day.

Any chance of some cold-light-of-day honest reality from our left-wingers?
