It has to be a very strong indication of the desire for Sinn Féin to achieve more success in the Republic that Martin McGuinness would tell Miriam O’Callaghan on RTE that he stayed with SDLP members who supported the IRA while he was on the run during the Troubles.

It comes at a convenient time and it has never been said before to my knowledge.

I suppose they’ll be telling us next that they stayed in parochial houses, or maybe they wouldn’t like to admit it these days.
