Ireland should join Nordic nations, not Europe

Forget a Federal Europe. If any federation is to evolve it ought to be an Island Federation offshore Europe initially, and invite our Nordic neighbours (Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland) to join eventually.

We have a lot more in common than joining up with the heart of Europe, where the worst conflicts in the history of mankind erupted. Ireland would need to become an equal partner with all on a level playing field. That would present a 32 county Island.

As far as royalty goes, it’s time England called it a day and took lessons from our Nordic friends in how to depoliticise the royal family so they can still remain tourist attractions and heritage entities.
