Respect for Jedward

RE “Jedward are carrying a torch for noise and not music” (June 11) it may interest your reader to know that John and Edward Grimes were chosen to carry the Olympic torch for the amazing amount of charity work they do in Ireland.

As long distance runners themselves, they promote sports in schools, and do work for the ISPCC and other children’s and sporting charities, including frequent visits to sick and dying children in hospital.

But don’t let facts get in the way of belittling their achievements — that’s obviously a bandwagon far too tempting not to be eagerly jumped upon.
