Has Emmet Murphy (May 28) gone too far in proposing that the number of TDs should be reduced to 38?

No, he’s absolutely correct; at present the Dáil has over 35 members per million of our population.

Compare this with the UK, France and Germany, which manage to get along with between 7 and 11 per million.
